Stadiums, construction dedicated, at first, in ancient
Greece, to athletics were constituted from the route
(dromos) surrounded from spectators structures,
two parallel rettilines united from a semi-circle,
called sphendone. In famous Olimpia stadium (Greece)
central platform , called spina, ended with two
small obeliscums, called mete (tries).
At the end of twenties, when fascism movement supplied
male phisicity culture to favour popular class of
future nation, some athletic figure representation
are inspired to classical Greece.
Most spectacular manifestation ever seen it is called
Stadio dei Marmi, built in Rome in thirties. It
has a lot of statues, shaped by young artists from
every Italian regions.
Stadium Ideator and creator was Renato Ricci (1896-1956)
foundator of Opera Balilla with the main target
to provide moral and physical development.
Schools and ricreative center was realized and one
of the most famous operas was the Mussolini Forum
where it as built the Stadio dei Marmi with the
capacity of 22’000 spectators.
Some of young unknown artists get later quite famous
such as Selva, Canevari, Buttini and among them
Aroldo Bellini, sixteen statues creator. The "Stadio
dei Marmi" was opened in 1932 October; nowadays
the Mussolini Forum is called Italic Forum and it
is the headquarter of CONI (Italian Olimpic Committee).
